Three students from Takapuna Grammar School spoke to us about their experiences at this year’s MUNA (Model United Nations Assembly) conference.
Our club sponsored three teams at this year’s event, held at the Dorothy Winstone theatre at Auckland Girls’ Grammar School.  One member of each team of three reported back to us: ZOE (representing Morocco), OLGA (Peru) and MICHAEL (Georgia). They were accompanied by their debating teacher, MARY HUTTON.

As its name suggests, the students ‘adopt’ a country and imagine they are in the real UN, debating current issues on behalf of their designated country (allocated by ballot).

A great deal of hard work and humour go into the two days of the meeting, usually chaired by a current member of our Parliament.
The three TGS students were most appreciative of the opportunity they had been given and thanked Graham for arranging the event for them.
