Around 110 happy eaters turned up at the Belmont Bowling Club for the second Katitahi Community Dinner.

This community event is supported by Bayswater Community Committee, Devonport Peninsula Trust, Shore to Thrive and the Little Village Grocer.  Kaitahi’s aim is to create a sustainable community event where people can come together, enjoy each other’s company and share a free meal.

Most of the food for this dinner was donated by Kiwi Harvest, a food rescue charity, which provides fresh surplus food that would otherwise go to the landfill.  Thanks also for donations made by Wild Wheat Specialty Breads and New World Devonport and to the local community garden for their lovely fresh herbs.

None of this would have been possible without the efforts of the many volunteers in the kitchen who, under the expert guidance of Brianna Parkinson and Sue Storey, peeled, scraped, stirred, mixed and created a bountiful menu of delicious food.
