Terry Everitt from Devonport Chocolates talked about the history of this highly regarded local business.Devonport Chocolates was originally set up to sell truffle logs. Terry and Stephanie took over in 1999 and by 2010 they had 3 shops and 29 staff producing a wide range of handcrafted chocolates. Terry described the methodology of chocolate making and the need for continual improvement and creativity to maintain their position as New Zealand’s premier chocolatier,
He also explained the work they are doing in Samoa to support the re-establishment of the local cocoa industry initially created by Germany but closed down after World War 1.
