Robbie Pickford, Director of International Students, Takapuna Grammar School.
Robbie explained the International Student market in New Zealand and the wish of the government to expand this. International education is now New Zealand’s fifth biggest export earner.
She then talked about the high school market at Takapuna Grammar School in terms of both inbound and outbound
and exchange students. She emphasized the positive outcomes of this, in particular greater cultural awareness, the development of a sense of international mindedness and access for overseas students to the highly regarded New Zealand education system.
Other areas she covered were the pastoral support systems in place for international students, why the North Shore is particularly attractive student destination and the nature of the homestays experience.
