Jenny is a novelist and non-fiction writer and the founder of Wily Publications, specialising in historical fiction and non- fiction. Her latest book, “Behind the Twisted Wire: New Zealand Artists in World War I”, explores how New Zealand artists recorded their experiences of the Great War.
Jenny explained the way that artists recorded the events of World War 1, using the three examples of Horace Millichamp Moore-Jones, George Edmund Butler and the first officially appointed as a New Zealand Army artist, Lance Corporal Nugent Herman. The latter was at the insistence of General Freyberg. The artists were recording, in colour, what photography could only reproduce in black and white.
