Peter began by setting out his Rotary history. He joined 11 years ago as a member of the Air Force in Wellington. The success of the first programme he was part of, mentoring school aged migrants, turned him into an “engaged Rotarian”and moving to Auckland he became the President of East Coast Bays, an Assistant Governor and then was persuaded to stand as District Governor.
He then moved to expand on the vision of Rotary International President Ravi Ravindran, “Be a Gift to the World”. In Ravi’s words ““Everyone has something to give—whoever we are, whatever our place in life. We can give our talent, our knowledge, our abilities, and our effort; we can give our dedication and our devotion.
Through Rotary, we can take these gifts and make a genuine difference in the lives of others and in our world.”
Peter then set his challenges to us:
Focusing on branding – reposition
our image
Raising money for the Rotary
Foundation
Attracting new members and
sustaining projects
He then moved to expand on the vision of
Rotary Internatione in life. We can give our talent, our knowledge, our abilities, and our effort; we can give our dedication and our devotion.
Through Rotary, we can take these gifts and make a genuine difference in the lives of others and in our world.”
He finished by inviting members to participate in the Rotary District 9910 Conference in 10 -12 April 2016 at the Warwick Le Lagon Resort and Spa in Vanuatu.
