Anna’s working life is running her highly successful clothing business – twenty plus shops and over 100 employees. She has also been widely acknowledged for her philanthropy having been awarded the EY Social Entrepreneur of the Year and the New Zealand Order of Merit from her work with RAW (Reclaim Another Woman).
RAW works to transition recidivist women prisoners back into society. Most of these women, when released, struggle to integrate, quickly lose belief in themselves and return to their previous lifestyles and patterns of illegal behaviours.
RAW relocates women who volunteer to be part of the programme into the Waikato to live in incubation homes.
The women are also given the opportunity to seek work opportunities through higher education. With 400 women in Correction’s facilities and 9000 men, Anna is extending the programme to men.
