It may be a gentlemanly or gentlewomanly game, but croquet can unleash some behaviours that run contrary to the Rotary Four-way test.
Is it fair to all concerned?   – blatant dislodging of the opposing team ball from an advantageous location would seem to go against that philosophy.  (Take note Craig Brewer!!)
Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Not jolly likely – just ask the Brewers – who were on opposing teams .

So, apart from some serious gamesmanship (or gameswomanship), the evening croquet rounds were a joy to participate in and all in all a sociable start to 2020 for Club members.
