A very chilly night did not stop a small group of Rotarians from making their way to Albany Junior High to visit the cosy mobile Life Education classroom. Corinne Kirkham, a passionate and enthusiastic Life Education teacher, told us how during the five weeks the classroom is at the school all pupils from years 1 to 8 are taught about their bodies, what they need in order to live a healthy, happy life, and the ways in which putting substances into their bodies can impact on their health and wellbeing.

Corinne explained how much the children look forward to this stimulating and interactive educational environment which caters to all learning styles and helps them to make choices based on sound information, rather than peer pressure.

The Life Education Trust which has been running since 1978 is a not-for-profit organisation which is neither government funded nor part of the government education system but is linked to the national school health curriculum. Every year around 250,000 children are lucky to have access to this successful programme. Demand for Life Education mobile classrooms outweighs supply which can only be met by donations to this worthwhile trust.
